Distance estimates
A step count is not a precise distance. Two people with the same step count can cover different ground because step length varies.
The default distance range uses 2,000–2,500 steps per mile. Height-based and custom step-length options are estimation conventions, not medically validated personal measurements. Running can also change steps per mile compared with walking.
Calorie estimates
Calorie results depend on body weight, walking pace, and the distance implied by your steps. They use a walking metabolic equation for flat ground, with a limited pace range.
A calorie number from this site is an estimate under those assumptions. It is not a lab measurement and should not be treated as exact.
Not medical advice
Nothing on this website is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment recommendation. The calculators are not intended for medical use.
Do not rely on these estimates to make medical decisions. If you have questions about activity, weight, or health, speak with a qualified professional.
Informational use
Use the results as a practical reference while walking or reviewing a step count. For the full method behind a given tool, see that calculator's own methodology notes.
